Artists from different countries to perform during Sangai Festival

In view of the ensuing Manipur Sangai Festival 2018 to be organised by the Tourism Department which is only a day away, Department of Art and Culture Director has conveyed that the Department has made all necessary arrangements to organise cultural programmes/shows at five different locations, which will be showcased by artists from around the world including countries like Korea, Bangladesh, Thailand and Myanmar.
Speaking to The Sangai Express, Department of Art and Culture Director Aribam Shivdas Sharma further informed that the cultural items will be presented at BOAT, Lamboi Khongnangkhong, Keibul Lamjao, Hapta Kangjeibung and Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen.
The officer expressed that a budgetof Rs 1,01,80,000 (One crore one lakh and eighty thousand) is expected to cover while organising the cultural shows.
Citing the schedules of choreographic programmes, the Director told The Sangai Express that a 30 minute choreographic presentation, Korouhanba Khm Garakle", by Kh Biswamitra, Millennium Force will be showcased at Keibul Lamjao at 11 am on November 21.During the evening session of November 21, a 60 minute long choreographic presentation, "Eikhoi Amatani" by G Loken Sharma, Senior Lecturer, Government Dance College will be showcased at BOAT at 4 pm.
He went on to say that another choreographic presentation (45 minutes), "Laigi Macha" by S Basu Singh, Progressive Artiste Laboratory will be presented at BOAT on "November 30 as part of the evening session.
Meanwhile, as part of the varied cultural programmes to be held at BOAT, artists from South Korea will be performing Taekwondo show, K-Pop and Fan dance on November 25 during the evening session, he informed and added that Shri Shri Bal Mukund Dev Music College will present a 30 minute long Choral music on November 27, the day when Thailand Princess will be arriving for the festival.
Many talented artists from Myanmar and Bangladesh will also be showcasing their performance and programmes also, he added.
The Director further maintained that, apart from this, other cultural programmes/shows of different communities of Manipur including music, dance, Khunung Eshei etc will be presented from November 22 till 30 at BOAT, Hapta Kangjeibung, Lamboi Khongnangkhong and Keibul Lamjao.
On the other hand, different Leela Associations, under Manipur State Shumang Leela Council, will be showcasing their respective plays daily at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen, Hapta Kangjeibung from November 22 till 29, he said.
Citing the series of plays to be showcased, Sana Leibak Nachom Artists will present its play 'Pameldugi Ukhada' on the first day, Ningthourel by Lamjingba Artists Association on the next day with Mami Artists Association's Sambal Hawai Maton, Time Star Artists Association's Amangba Nong, Naharol Khongthang Artists Association's Nungshiba Hooni, Iramdam Manipur Artists Association's Sanagi Ngaa, Peacemaker Artists Association's Tharoi Ahambagi Mahao and Nongin Shumang Kumhei's Pizza-III on the following days.
The Director appealed the public to come and enjoy the series of cultural events and plays.
Apart from the plays, necessary preparations have been made to showcase the daytime programmes at Hapta Kangjebung, from November 22 till 29, which includes Eshei Nachom, Nupa Pakhang Waithung Seitharol, folk song, Khongjom Parva, folk song, Meitei Eshei, Meitei Wari, Pena Phamshak, folk experimental music, Tangkhul folk music, Khunung Eshei, Qawwali, Kabui folk song and dance, folk fusion music, Moirang Parva, Chakma folk dance and music, Moirang Sai, Khullang Esei, Wari Phaibok, Kakching Khullang Esei, folk song and dance, Lou-u-jagoi etc.
All Manipur Matam Ishei Kanglup (AMMIK) will also present the popular Hingminnashi Eikhoi.
The Director has appealed the public to show their support, enjoy the festival and spend some time away from the office exhaustion as a leisure time with their families.
