Senapati District Student's Association (SDSA) in a statement has expressed sadness and anger over the alleged detention and terrorizing of young children at Sekmai during a sudden bandh called along Imphal-Mao road (NH-2) on Saturday.
The SDSA condemned the sudden bandh called on November 17 at Sekmai that had left 43 young innocent orphans, aged between 4 and 11 years, of Maraoni Orphans and Destitute Upliftment (FMODU), Viewland Colony, Senapati traumatized due to harrassment meted out to the young children that has also made two children fainted because of starvation.
The orphanage in-charge had pleaded many times to have mercy on the young starving children but the bandh organisers unleased verbal abuse and denied permission to move their bus, it alleged.
Condemning vehemently the inhuman behavior of the bandh supporters, the SDSA said that they would not accept such harsh treatment metted out to innocent orphan children while adding mat they can voice their dissent in a civilised manner which is acceptable to all.
