Imphal, November 19 2018:
The People Action Committee (PAC) Against the Brutal Killing of Pravish Chanam has lined up a series of agitation from November 21, the opening day of Manipur Sangai Festival 2018.Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here today, PAC convenor Laimayum Pishu said that they have been constrained to launch a series of stir on account of the Government's failure to take up a single positive step to establish the facts and circumstances leading to the death of Pravish Chanam till date.
He said that different modes of indefinite agitation would be staged in Uripok area starting from November 21.AMKIL vice-president Lourembam Manbi said that they had repeatedly approached both the Central Government and the State Government to find out the facts and circumstances leading to the death of Pravish Chanam.
"We appealed to Chief Minister N Biren to make sure that the case is handed over to CBI for a thorough investigation", she said.
Further, a joint team of AMKIL, Poirei Leimarol, KIL, WASADEV, IKAL, Tammi Chingmi, Nongpok Leingak Lup and Salai Apunba Nupi Lamjing Lup went to Delhi and talked about the case with Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju.
The team further met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh who assured that the case would be handed over to CBI if Chief Minister N Biren makes a proposal to this effect either verbally or through a letter, Manbi said.
Before this meeting, Rajnath Singh had no idea about the case of Pravish Chanam for he was never apprised by the State Government, she alleged.
So far the Government has not initiated a single concrete step regarding the brutal killing of Pravish Chanam.
And it is this inaction which has compelled the PAC to take up different modes of indefinite agitation, Manbi said.
She further informed that the PAC's agitation would be supported by AMKIL, Poirei Leimarol, KIL, WASADEV, IKAL, Tammi Chingmi, Nongpok Leingak Lup and Salai Apunba Nupi Lamjing Lup.
