SC scholarship likely to be disbursed next year

The scholarship for Scheduled Caste for the academic year 2017-18 is likely to distribute by next year, conveyed an official source during a one day State level workshop for NGOs on various schemes implemented by Ministry of Minority Affairs, Govt of India, at City Convention Centre today.
As per the source, the Ministry of Minority Affairs has sent the list of scholarship beneficiaries to the Finance Department Government of Manipur but the process is still pending till date.
The source said the Ministry is apprehensive that some student organization might create stir following the non distribution of the SC scholarship in time.
Ameising Luikham, Secretary, Ministry of Minority Affairs, Gol, Kh Raghumani Singh, Secretary, Minority Affairs, D Madhukar Naik, Director, Ministry of Minority Affairs Gol and Ng Uttam Singh, Director, Minority Affairs attended the workshop as dignitaries.
The event was organized by Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India in collaboration with Department of Minority Affairs, Government of Manipur.
Representatives of AMUCOC, AMMSO, Manipur Muslim Online Forum, Buddhist Council Manipur, All Manipur Christian Association, Manipur Muslim Welfare Association, All Manipur Muslim Girls Students Union, Chairman of State Haj Committee Abdus Salam and Chairman of Minorities Commission Dr Sayed Burhanddi also attended the workshop.
The workshop highlighted the schemes under Ministry of Minority Affairs like scholarship for minorities (pre matric and post matric), Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram, Maulana Azad Education Foundation, Seekho aur Kamao (Learn & Earn), Skill development of minorities.
It also discussed about other schemes including Economic and Skill Development Programme, CM's Lairik Yengminnasi/ Coaching Programme and housing schemes etc.
The Ministry has already built two hostels at Kakching, two at Andro, one each at Sekmai, Khurkhul, Leimaram and Thanga under MOBC in the year 2017 and 2018.Chief guest of the function, Ameising Luikham said that the Ministry alms to raise awareness on Central schemes for minorities with the help of NGOs as to popularize the schemes in the State.
President of the function Kh Raghumani Singh said that the workshop will help the beneficiaries unlike before, with the help of NGOs and DCs in all the districts.
The Ministry is planning, to organize an awareness workshop on various Government schemes in the near future, he said.
