Poppy plantation destroyed

Around 230 acres of illegal poppy cultivation, worth around Rs 11 crore, were destroyed by a joint team of security force and administrative staff of Kamjong district, at Thawai Kuki hill range and its adjoining area, today morning.
The destruction of illegal poppy plantation was carried out by a large team of security personnel, comprising of Narcotic and Affairs of Border (NAB), trainees of Manipur Police Training Centre, 4th IRB, 5th IRB, Assam Rifles along with the staff of DC Kamjong and staff of SDM Phungyar, under the supervision of SP, NAB and Kamjong DC.
Around 230 acres of illegal poppy plantation were destroyed by the combined team, which could have yielded around 2300 kilograms of opium worth around Rs 11 crore, an official of NAB explained.
