In the latest steps for all round development in school education in the state, the state government will be checking all the government and private schools in the state for the required fire fighting equipments and will take up actions against officials and authorities of schools which do not have these facilities, according to an official source.
Following a direction of the Supreme Court of India, the state government will be looking into the matter and ensure that the required fire fighting equipments are in the schools by establishing committee called Manipur Fire Services and Engineering Cell, Education (S).
The first sitting of the committee was held on February 3 this year, the source revealed.
The committee meeting recommended installation of proper fire fighting equipments in all government and private schools.
The school buildings should be constructed as per the laid down guidelines of National Building Code and all schools should have safety certificates issued by the Manipur Fire Services and Engineering Cell, Directorate of Education (S).
It also recommended the ZEOs to organise safety drills in all schools in collaboration with Manipur Fire Services.
Any officials who are found neglecting their duties will face disciplinary actions, the source added.
