Imphal, October 14 2015:
Family members of late Ronald today urged the authority concerned to initiate a thorough investigation into the death of Ronald who allegedly passed away due to the negligence of RIMS Surgery Department.
Speaking to media persons, Ranjita, widow of Ronald, alleged that Ronald had consulted one surgeon.
After the ultrasound report detected presence of gallstones, a key hole operation was performed at the Catholic Medical Centre (CMC), Koirengei on September 27 .
Before the completion of the surgery, the family members were made to sign in some medical related document, she further alleged.
The patient was operated at 2.30 pm.
The surgery procedure lasted till 5 pm.
Since the patients' health deteriorated, he was referred to RIMS on September 29.He finally passed away on October 2 .
Ranjita also said that the doctor who operated on late Ronald informed the family members that the ultrasound report was inaccurate.
Negligence of the doctor concerned has led to the death of Ronald, alleged Ranjita.
She therefore appealed to the authority concerned to initiate thorough investigation into the matter and take up action against him.
In the meantime, the doctor who operated on Ronald refuted the statement of the late patient's family members and stated that he had informed the cause of the patients' death to the family members.
The patient was suffering from liver cirrhosis.
However, we could not detect it from the ultrasound result which usually occurs in some cases, informed the doctor.
The disease was detected only at the time of the keyhole surgery.
The patient's liver was severely damaged.
The gallstones were successfully removed.
However, the patient suffered from multi-organ failure due to the severe condition of his liver which subsequently led to his death on October 2, the doctor said.
