After Delhi stopover on border row; CM Ibobi to leave for China

Imphal, September 12 2013: To meet the Central leaders over the border fencing issue along Indo-Myanmar border in Moreh where a large chunk of land of Manipur have been reportedly fallen inside the border of Myanmar as well as to attend a Business summit in China scheduled to be held on September 14, Chief Minister O Ibobi left Imphal for New Delhi today.

Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam has also accompanied the Chief Minister to meet the Central leaders at the National capital.

According to reports reaching Hueiyen Lanpao, after meeting the Central leaders, Chief Minister Ibobi will be heading to Kolkata on September 17.After holding a night in Kolkata, he would be leaving for Beijing on September 18 .

PHE Minister I Hemochandra, Commerce & Industries Minister Govindas Konthoujam, Principal Secretary of Commerce and Industries O Nabakishore, Director of Youth Affairs and Sports Ashok Kumar would also be accompanying the Chief Minister during the Governmental visit to Beijing for the business summit.

However, the two Ministers and other officials will be leaving Imphal for Kolkata on September 17 .

As a part of the Business Summit which is to be organized by Indian Chamber of Commerce, the representatives from Manipur Government will be visiting Kunming, Beijing and Shanghai and meeting investors to discuss possibilities of carrying out trade between China and Manipur.

During the stay, the State representatives will also try to grasp how China is becoming one of the most prominent countries in the field of trade and commerce.

After the Business Summit, the team led by Chief Minister O Ibobi would leave for Japan, where they would also be participating in another Business Summit.

There, the team would also be meeting prominent officials of Japanese Government and discuss the Sericulture Project in the State which the Japanese Government has stopped funding.

Speaking to Hueiyen Lanpao in connection with the proposed business trip, Minister Govindas Konthoujam stated that the visit is expected to bring about a drastic change in the Indo-Myanmar trade relation.

Myanmar is an important point in the trade business between India and China as well as Japan, he added.
