Imphal, October 24 2015 :
The hill tribes will be the first ones to become extinct from the State's soil if Inner Line Permit System (ILPS) is not implemented to protect the indigenous communities of Manipur, said Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) Convener-in-Charge Khomdram Ratan.
Ratan made the comment during the observation of 18th foundation day of Meetei Hueiyen Langlong Sintam Sanglen (SATJAL Academy) of Top Khongnangkhong Branch, Imphal East.
Attending the function, Kh Ratan said that implementation of ILPS in the state is necessary to safeguard and protect the indigenous communities which are on the verge of extinction.
State's indigenous people will be totally wiped out if the influx of outsiders continues unabated.

At last, hills people who are small in population size will be the first to be wiped out from the State's soil, pointed out Ratan.
He called on all communities to support the implementation of Bills to protect Manipur's indigenous communities.
He also informed that during the ILPS movement, over 400 persons sustained injuries while confronting State forces.
Ratan asserted that the three Bills passed by the Legislative Assembly do not violate any rights of the hill people but few sections intentionally incited simple hill villagers leading to the death of nine persons in Churachandpur.
When the Government invited all for suggestions on the three Bills, no hill representatives made any comments but few began spreading rumours which led to the agitation in hill areas, said Ratan.
Allaying all fears, Ratan said both hill and valley communities will be safeguarded by the three Bills and not only the Meeteis as claimed by some people.
He informed that the Bills are now with the President of India and the Manipur Government including all political parties in the State should pressurize the Centre so that the Bills can become Acts.
Ratan urged the State Government to immediately work out a solution with the hill people who are against the three Bills.
The function was also attended by former MLA of Kshetrigao A/C Th Nandakeshore and Manipur Government Cooperative Department retired Additional Registrar Th Manao.
