Imphal, October 24 2015 :
The Manipur People's Party (MPP) has strongly condemned the alleged looting of Rs 6 lakh from one Md Ataur Rahaman by Manipur police commandos in high security Imphal bazar area and subsequent dumping of the victim at a place in Mantripukhri after assaulting him.
In a statement, MPP general secretary (publicity), Y Bhim Singh said such despicable acts were unheard of in other parts of the world.
The occurrence of such unwarranted incidents is a testimony that there is no law in the State and jungle law is rather in force in the State, the MPP said.
Common people of the State now find it hard to cope with incidents of similar kinds where men in uniform loot the public at bazar area and UGs loot the public along the highway, it said.
Saying that the CM and the Home Minister should take responsibility for the happenings, the MPP demanded the resignation of the CM and the Home Minister on moral ground in the interest of the general public.
It also categorically asked whether the CCTV cameras installed in Imphal area are deliberately made dysfunctional in order to shield the prejudicial activities of the policemen.
