Councilor gets enrolled as BJP member without 'knowledge'

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been served a legal notice for enrolling Imphal Municipal Council (IMC) Ward No 27 Councilor Soraisam Memsana as a member without the latter's knowledge.
It has been alleged that BJP had also enrolled many members and office bearers of CPI without their knowledge.
During an interaction with media persons on Saturday at Irabat Bhawan, CPI Manipur State Council Secretary Dr M Nara said that BJP has enrolled many more people without their knowledge through the online enrolment drive.
IMC Councilor Memsana and other members of her family were included in the BJP's online membership drive list, said Dr Nara.
In this connection, a legal notice has been served on BJP Manipur State Executive Member Phijam Pakchao and a copy of the notice has been sent to BJP Manipur Pradesh President.
Dr Nara further said that the IMC Councilor had also submitted a written complaint to the OC of Lamphel Police Station asking to take action against Phijam Pakchao.
It is unfortunate that many Secretaries of CPI Branches has also been put in the list under BJP online enrollment drive, alleged Dr Nara.
Meanwhile, Dr Nara informed that CPI will not field a candidate for the coming bye-elections of Thongju and Thangmeiband assembly constituencies.
"The coming bye-election is unreasonable.
Those who were disqualified from the State Assembly before the end of their tenure and now they are going to fight the election again.
CPI will not support to any of the candidates" said Dr Nara while adding that holding unnecessary election was wastage of public money.
The CPI Manipur State Council Secretary further said that people have been reeling under hardships as prices of essential commodities have soared.
"Food Security Act has not been implemented; PDS items have not been distributed in time" alleged Dr Nara.
He said that State Government should feel shame of the condition of the State.
Loumee Lup is planning to launch an intense agitation across the State in connection with price hike and irregular supply of PDS items, he informed.
