Imphal, October 24 2015 :
Seasoned politician and former Chief Minister Radhabinod Koijam has decided to stay away from active politics till the end of the current year.
Nonetheless, he promised to return to active politics by the beginning of the next year.
Following the unexpected decision of the seasoned politician, all kinds of specu- lations are doing rounds on which candidate would be supported by his supporters and loyalists in the upcoming by-election to Thangmeiband A/C.It is said that Radhabinod Koijam has been already enrolled in BJP.
He told The Sangai Express that he would fight for Thangmeiband seat in the 2017 Manipur State Assembly election.
He pledged that he would continue to render his service as a social worker in close coordination with civil society organisations.
A nationwide campaign for online enrolment in BJP was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah at Delhi.
BJP Manipur Pradesh president Th Chaoba was also present at the function.
"Even as I've enrolled my myself in BJP, I'm not sure whether I'm a member of BJP or not for State BJP president Th Chaoba was objecting to my online enrolment in defiance of the guidelines given by BJP central leaders", Radhabinod said.
"Although an election meeting was held close to my residence after I've enrolled in BJP in connection with the by-election to Thangmeiband A/C together with party's central leaders, I was not informed.
It only reflected Th Chaoba's attitude of treating the party as his personal fiefdom", he continued.
He further accused Th Chaoba of projecting him as a power-hungry man.
At the same time, the State BJP was humiliating a former Chief Minister.
"Given this scenario, I've decided to stay away from active politics till the end of the current year but I would continue to render my service to the public in the capacity of a social worker", Radhabinod confided.
Exposing many of the wrongdoings allegedly committed by Th Chaoba, Radhabinod said that he thought better to join BJP after Chaoba has been removed from the post of BJP Manipur Pradesh president.
