Imphal, July 19 2015 :
Extra-Judicial Execution Victim Families Association Manipur (EEVFAM) along with Human Right Alert (HRA) has decided to resubmit data of 62 cases of extra-judicial killings with the intention to help strengthen their arguments and reiterate the stated position on the same issue.
The decision followed the Supreme Court's order asking the Government of India, Manipur Government and National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to prepare a comprehensive report on 62 alleged fake encounter cases in the state.
Speaking to Hueiyen Lanpao, HRA Director Babloo stated that the Centre, Manipur Government and the NHRC should provide the details of the alleged fake encounter as sought by the Supreme Court on its July 13 order.
EEVFAM President Renuka Takhelambam also said that the Manipur Government should submit the comprehensive report along with documents and evidences on the cases at the earliest.
She said that next hearing will be held on August 3. While pinning hope that the victims' families will finally get justice, Renuka appealed the Government of Manipur not to delay in replying to the Supreme Court's order so as to deliver justice to the victims' families who had for long been enduring pain and suffering.
The report of the 62 cases will be examined by the Supreme Court.
Out of the 62 cases, judicial inquiries have established prima facie "fake encounter" in around 20 cases, said sources.
