Imphal, July 19 2015 :
Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam has appealed to the JCILPS to cooperate with the Government in drafting a new Bill in place of the MRVTMW Bill 2015 .
Speaking to media persons after a CLP meeting which was presided by Chief Minister this afternoon, Gaikhangam stated that the Government has been working relentlessly to draft a new Bill since the State Assembly resolved to withdraw MRVTMW Bill 2015 .
The Government has consulted political parties, legal experts, Editors and senior journalists.
The Chief Minister personally wrote a letter to the JCILPS inviting them to a meeting but there has been no response so far.
The CLP meeting held today decided to hold another round of meeting at 3 pm tomorrow and some CLP Members have been assigned to contact JCILPS leaders, Gaikhangam conveyed.
The Government has been working to meet civil society organisations and all stake holders on a daily basis.
In another word, the Government is determined to draft a new Bill in consultation with all the stake holders.
The new Bill may be drafted by adopting the earlier Bill as a format or otherwise.
In order to introduce a new Bill and bring the restive situation to normalcy, it is crucial for the Government to communicate with the JAC constituted in connection with the death of Robinhood as well as the JCILPS, Gaikhangam stated.
People's notion that Robinhood was innocent but the Government has been projecting him as accused is misplaced, he added.
The FIR was registered suo moto under compelling circumstances and it did not blame Robinhood for any wrongdoing.
The DGP has already instructed an IGP to conduct a departmental enquiry.
In case there is any blunder in the FIR, necessary action would be initiated, assured the Deputy Chief Minister.
On being enquired about re-opening educational institutions, he evaded a direct reply.
He only stated that the Government has been working hard towards this end.
The Education Minister too has been working hard meeting student organisations as well as teachers fraternity, Gaikhangam added.
