Accused remanded

An alleged cadre of the Manipur Naga People's Front (MNPF) has been remanded to judicial custody by the Court of Special Judge (NIA), Manipur.
Maharing Hungyo alias Achan (21) s/o Surrender Hungyo of New Canaan village, Ukhrul was produced before the Court today.
According to the case dossier, Maharing Hungyo alias Achan is allegedly involved in the ambush which took place at Sialsih village, Churachandpur district under Singngat police station on November 13, 2021 .
Five Assam Rifles personnel including Commanding Officer Col Viplav Tripathi, his wife and son were killed in the ambush and six others sustained injuries.
Notably, the proscribed PLA and the MNPF claimed responsibility for the attack.
Saying that investigation of the case was still going on, the Public Prosecutor appearing for the NIA prayed the Court to remand the accused in judicial custody.
The Court, after hearing the PP and on perusal of the materials on record, remanded Maharing Hungyo alias Achan in judicial custody till December 9 .
