Imphal, May 08 2012:
The delegates of National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN)/GPRN who returned from signing a bilateral ceasefire agreement with Myanmarese Government were accorded a warm welcome by a huge crowd of families of Naga, Kachin, Shan and Burma at Khamti Harbour.
The gathering was led by Naga Baptist Convention (NBC) and Naga Yuva who created homely atmosphere for the delegates.
While showing gratitude to those who welcomed them, the NSCN/GPRN in a press statement expressed that they are indebted to USDP and Swe Nung Yan Company for their immeasurable support and cooperation.
It may be mentioned that the bilateral cease fire between NSCN/GPRN and Union of Myanmar was signed on April 9 at Khamti town.
The NSCN team comprising six members was headed by Y Wangtin Naga.
And the six-member team of Union of Myanmar was headed by Col Kyiniang, Minister for Border Area Development.
In the meeting, representatives of NSCN told the Myanmar team that NSCN is an authentic political institution struggling for Naga sovereignty with mass support of the Nagas across the artificial boundary.
Both the teams recalled the history of Myanmar government and Naga people for the past six decades as the history of tears and blood, war and conflicts.
They both agreed to forget the past and look forward for better future through mutual understanding of each other's problems and difficulties, the statement added.
