Imphal, February 09 2014:
While asserting that the State Government had provided adequate security to BJP's PM candidate Narendra Modi during his election rally in the State yesterday, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam claimed that the successful holding of Modi's rally without any untoward incident was the success of State Government and not of the BJP.
He was speaking as Chief Guest of the release function of a Rongmei film titled "Rahalu" held at the auditorium of Tribal Research Institute (TRI), Chingmeirong here today.
Gaikhangam further said that the State Government had provided adequate security to Modi as the State's responsibility and not in fear that he might become the Prime Minister of India.
Reacting to the allegations of Narendra Modi on Congress-led UPA and State Governments, he maintained that nothing worthwhile could be expected from an opposition leader rather than harsh criticism on the ruling party.
Modi had said what the opposition leaders should speak in general, Deputy CM noted.
Modi's proposal for deputing policewomen from the northeastern states to Gujarat is absurd and it would bear no result.
Instead, Gujarat Police should learn lot many things from Manipur Police, Gaikhangam said.
He once again reminded the people that the BJP would bring adversities to the State if they come back to power at the Centre.
The people of Manipur should always remember the inferno that once razed the State due to a single decision of BJP-led NDA Government.
Gaikhangam also condemned the attacks on northeastern people in New Delhi including Nido Tania's death and assault of two Manipuri women.
