Senapati, February 09 2014:
United Naga Council (UNC) has asked the abductors of Island Tangkhul village secretary Mathotmi Chahong to release him safely at the earliest to avoid any undesirable consequences.
UNC today cautioned that such incident of abducting a village leader can invite unnecessary problems and said further holding of hostage of the village leader is giving rise to tension in the area.
The Naga body then suggested whatever may be the cause that led to the abduction of the village leader, there is always room to settle the matter through dialogue.
45-year old Mathotmi Chahong was reportedly abducted by armed men suspected to be cadres of Kuki National Front - Nehlun (KNF-N) militants, from his home at around 9 pm on February 7 .
