Y Surchandra then challenged the verdict at the Supreme Court after which a bench of the apex Court nullified the order of the Speaker's Tribunal.
However, the High Court of Manipur declared his (Surchandra) election result as null and void for submitting erroneous affidavit and in doing so, duly named Mayanglambam Rameshwar Singh as the new MLA of Kakching AC.
