Search ops conducted, MR quarters scanned

Imphal, January 20 2022:
Manipur police has beefed up security arrangements in the state in connection with the upcoming assembly elections and Republic Day celebration.
According to a police report, a team of Imphal West Commandos conducted search operations in the areas around Alugali, Dharmasala, Kasturi bridge and Temporary Market from 3.20 pm to 3.35 pm on Thursday.
In all, 120 people were verified one-by-one during the operation.
The team carried out another search operation at Changangei Uchekon, Makha Leikai, Maning Leikai and Mayai Leikai areas from 3.45 pm to 5pm on Thursday.
During the operation, 60 houses were searched and 95 people verified, including 4 people who are out on bail.
However, no arrests were reported during both the operations, the report conveyed.
Meanwhile, a combined team of Imphal West Commandos and 1st Bn Manipur Rifles conducted a house-to-house search operation at 1st MR Quarters from 4.45 pm to 6 pm on Thursday.
Altogether, 165 quarters and 265 individuals were verified but no arrests were made.
On the other hand, a combined team of Thoubal District Commando, Yairipok Police and Women personnel carried out a search operation at Wangkhem Mayai Leikai area from 5.30 am to 7am on Thursday.
During the operation, 73 houses were searched and 292 people verified.
No arrests were reported.
A team of Imphal East District Commandos also conducted a search operation in Mahabali Khul area on Thursday morning.
In all, 70 houses were searched but no arrests were reported.
