Imphal, January 20 2022:
A legal notice has been served to Khuraijam Ratankumar who is intending to contest the upcoming election from Khurai Assembly Constituency from the Congress ticket.
The legal notice was served yesterday by the counsel of Laitonjam Jayananda who is also intending to contest the upcoming election from NPP in the same constituency in connection with the alleged public statement made by Kh Ratankumar against L Jayananda during a political conference held on January 4 at Kangla Sangomshang organised by Khurai BCC.
The above was informed by L Jayananda during a press meet held at his residence today evening at Khurai Konsam Leikai and clarified that the statements made by Kh Ratankumar are false and baseless.

Stating that the political conference was streamed live on local tv channel, L Jayananda said that the statements made by Kh Ratankumar to allegedly tarnish his image have become viral in social media.
He further alleged that the statements have humiliated him and his family publicly and has become a factor to diminish his political career.
Maintaining that such an irresponsible act calls for a direct defamation case against Ratankumar instead of a legal notice, he added.
L Jayananda went on to state that the legal notice has been served believing that the election will be held in a fair and free election and after thorough discussion with his central election committee and advisory committee.
It may be noted that the legal notice also mentioned that Kh Ratankumar should take back his statements unconditionally and apologize publicly through print and electronic media within five days.
