Imphal, January 20 2022:
In what could be termed as rapid worsening of the pandemic situation, the state on Thursday logged 448 positive cases, which is the highest single day spike in nearly five months, while the test positiyity rate (TPR) rose to 15.2 per cent against 14.3 per cent the previous day.
The last time the daily cases crossed the 400 mark was on August 21, 2021 when 442 persons were infected.
The same month also had 602 cases on August 15 .
Two Covid-19 related deaths were reported in the last 24 hours which took the total number of fatalities to 2017 .
Both the deceased, one each from Imphal West and Imphal East, were unvaccinated persons and had comorbidities.
Of the 12 districts from where the positive cases were reported, Imphal West accounted for 212 persons infected by the contagious disease with the TPR recorded at 17.1 per cent.
In terms of highest TPR, Churachandpur topped with 24.5 per cent as a total of 67 cases were confirmed from out of 274 samples tested while Senapati district with five cases out of 233 tests done had lowest TPR of 2.1 per cent.
As per the daily update report of the Covid-19 Common Control Room, the total number of cases included 415 persons, including 218 females, from among the general population and 33 personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) .
The infections were confirmed at RIMS (62), JNIMS (75) and other testing centres (311) .
In the last 24 hours, a total of 66 persons were discharged from home isolation (30), RIMS (5), JNIMS (2) and Covid care centres (29) while the cumulative number of positive cases increased to 1,28,679 (general population - 1, 23,882 and CAPF personnel - 4,797) .
Number of recovered cases is 1,24,278 (general population - 1,19,813 and CAPF personnel - 4,465) .
The number of active cases comprises 2058 persons from among the general population and 326 CAPF personnel while the recovery rate stands at 96.58 per cent against 96.86 per cent on Wednesday.
According to official reports, the positive cases are from Imphal East (77 with TPR of 19.1 per cent), Imphal West (212/17.1 per cent), Thoubal (11/10.7 per cent), Bishnupur (15/16.1 per cent), Kakching (18/24 per cent), Kangpokpi (13/9.9 percent), Ukhrul (2/2.7 per cent), Tamenglong (4/8.5 per cent), Senapati (5/2.1 per cent), Chandel (2/3.4 per cent), Churachandpur (67/24.5 per cent) and Jiribam (22/16.7 per cent) .
All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, said the Control Room report, adding that a total of 147 D-type and 14 B-type Oxygen cylinders were distributed to different health facilities in the last 24 hours.
The number of Covid-19 vaccines administered on Wednesday was 7403 which is an improvement from the 6630 doses administered the previous day.
The cumulative number of vaccinated persons has reached 24,11,098 out of which 10,26,082 have received the second dose and 10,384 have been administered with the precautionary dose.
As per the official report, the total number of cases in different districts are Imphal West (45,281), Imphal East (28,541), Thoubal (9616), Churachandpur (10,585), Kangpokpi (2852), Tamenglong (3306), Bishnupur (9336), Senapati (2323), Ukhrul (3082), Kakching (6537), Chandel (2487), Noney (1106), Tengnoupal (1093), Jiribam (1072), Kamjong (997) and Pherzawl (465) .
Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (677), Imphal East (484), Thoubal (179), Churachandpur (163), Kangpokpi (64), Tamenglong (14), Bishnupur (195), Senapati (10), Ukhrul (45), Kakching (116), Chandel (41), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5) and Pherzawl (0) .
Among the 16 districts, Imphal West has highest number of persons vaccinated with first dose at 74.73 per cent while Jiribam has better second dose record at 59.54 per cent.
