Rishang's term as RS MP to end on Apr 9

With Rajya Sabha MP Rishang Keishing's tenure coming to an end, the Election Commission has initiated necessary procedures to nominate a new MP.
Meanwhile preparatory work for the Lok Sabha election is also picking up.
Talking to The Sangai Express, Chief Electoral Officer O Nabakishore said that MP Rishang Keishing's tenure will expire on April 9 .
The Election Commission has already asked the State to name RO and ARO for election/nomination of a new MP.
Together with Rishang Keishing, tenure of 54 other Rajya Sabha MPs belonging to 15 States would expire in the month of April.
As sought by the Election Commission, the CEO office has furnished details of the State's holiday lists, examination schedules and festival dates which fall ahead of the Lok Sabha election.
The CEO has also written to the Department of Personnel seeking details of the posts held by DCs and SDOs who have been detailed for election duty.
Moreover a joint meeting of Deputy Commissioners has been convened on January 17 to discuss about the poll preparation works.
