AR reaches out to the people

In a noble effort to bequeath faith and benevolence among the locals of remote villages in the state, IGAR South, Maj Gen Rajeev Chopra today visited Somrei village.
According to a statement issued by PRO IGAR (S), the General addressed the village local bodies of Somrei, Chandrakhong and Tangkhul Khullen where he extended complete support to ensure the overall development of the region.
The General also propagated the importance of sports and motivated the locals to showcase their talent in various spectrums and presented a number of sports items to the locals to motivate them and keep their interest in sports alive.
Later, when IGAR South visited Thoubal at the Head Quarters of 15 Assam Rifles, he presented a wheel chair to DP Medar of Koinathang Village, who is a physically challenged person.
This act of IGAR South sends a strong message of humanity and compassion further strengthening the faith of the locals that Assam Rifles will always be a loyal outfit and friends of the people of Manipur.
Meanwhile, 20 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) distributed Syntax Tank, Tarpaulin and Plastic Chairs to Agape Children Home, Pallel of Chandel district under the Assam Rifles Civic Action Programme on 10 Jan 2014 .
Brigadier Rajiv Monkotia, VSM, Commander, 26 Sector Assam Rifles presented the items to the Agape Children Home and graced the ceremony.
Children of Agape Home also presented a cultural dance and songs that added beauty to the occasion.
Many local leaders, youth club members and villagers attended the function, the PRO added.
