Imphal, January 10 2014 :
With most of the wooden planks laid on Makru bridge along Imphal-Jiribam highway decayed and some falling off, loaded trucks are now apprehensive of crossing the bridge.
According to Transporters and Drivers Council (TDC) president H Ranjit, their request to the BRO to repair the bridge was turned down on the ground that there was no fund for the same work.
With most of the wooden planks decayed and fallen off, drivers are fearful of crossing the bridge.
Ranjit appealed to the Chief Minister, the Home Minister and the Works Minister to pay special attention and repair the bridge.
In case the bridge is kept unrepaired, heavy vehicles would be compelled to stay off Imphal-Jiribam highway, Ranjit said.
