Enforce laws strictly to end crime against women: NCW chief

"Total implementation of every single law for crimes against women is highly considered necessary in every state of India in dealing with these crimes against women," said Mamta Sharma, chairperson, National Commission for Women, New Delhi while addressing the opening function of the session for interaction.
This was stated during the interaction programme organised today by Manipur State Commission for Women on "Ima Keithel" at Classic Hotel here.
NCW chief further suggested that correlated authorities should help the Manipur State Women Commission in its administrative policy and programme.
Mamta also said that crimes against women such as the recent Delhi gangrape case, which had outraged the whole nation as well as the international community, can be dented only when anti-crime laws for women are enacted.
At the same time, she said all the state Women Commissions and their allied NGOs should spread awareness among women and these organisations should also visit every educational institutions and hold various programmes.
State Social Welfare minister AK Mirabai also attended the opening ceremony of the interaction programme.
She said the state Women Commission since its inception in 2006 has been insistently working hard and taking up various steps to stop crimes against women in the state.
"Let's work together irrespective of sexes to ward off crimes that are committed against women," Mirabai appealed.
Chief Secretary, PC Lawmkunga, chairperson of Manipur State Women Commission, Dr L Ibotombi, National Women Commission North East in-charge, Laldingliani Sailo were also among others who attended the function.
