The Ministry of Home Affairs has conveyed the approval for construction of three Model Police Stations in Mizoram, Manipur and Rajasthan and released Rs 3 crore (one crore each to the three Model Police Stations) on December 26, 2013 .
This was stated by Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde during the monthly press conference of Ministry of Home Affairs at New Delhi today.
He said that on Dec 11, 2013, the Ministry of Home Affairs issued an order under Section 25 (3) of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 for the retention of the cash of Rs 1.14 crore seized from the possession of Manoj Kumar Gupta of Bangalore on the grounds that the same is a part proceeds of PREPAK, a proscribed organisation of Manipur.
On December 26, 2013, sanction for prosecution for filing the supplementary charge sheet against one accused person was given under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 in a case relating to the members of the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) having involvement in a criminal conspiracy to wage war against the Government of India.
An "Authority" had been constituted under Section 45 (2) of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 for the purpose of making an independent review of the evidence gathered in the course of investigation and to make recommendation in this regard.
On Dec 16, 2013 its time period was extended upto Dec 31, 2014 .
Sushilkumar said that an Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Tribunal, to be presided over by the sitting judge of the Delhi High Court, was constituted on Dec 6, 2013 for adjudicating on declaration of the Meitei Extremist Organizations as 'Unlawful Associations' under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 .
He also said that out of the total allocation of Rs1847 crore for 2013-14 under the Scheme for Modernisation of State Police Forces, an amount of Rs 155.91 crore was released during December, 2013.Out of this, Rs 3.74 crore was released to Ordinance Factory Boards of Bihar and Jharkhand for supply of arms and ammunition, Rs 73.43 crore to State Governments of Jharkhand, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh for construction activities and Rs.78.74 crore to 5 different State Governments (Gujarat, Nagaland, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh and Uttrakhand) for purchase of vehicles/communication equipment etc.
Out of the total outlay of Rs 990 crore earmarked in the budget of 2013-14 under Border Area Development Programme (BADP), an amount of Rs 639.67 crore has been released for the implementation of the Scheme in 13 States, he said.
An amount of Rs 12.05 crore and Rs 4.05 crore have been released to the States of Nagaland and Mizoram respectively during December 2013 under Border Area Development Programme (BADP) .
