YLC lift KC Mallick football trophy

Jiribam, January 10 2014 : Yaipha Lamjing Club (YLC) Dibong Khunou beat Lungreijang Youth Club, Kalinagar in tie break 5 - 1 goal to lift the trophy of 23rd K.C.Mallick Memorial Invitation Football Tournament in the final match played at Jiribam Higher Secondary School playground today.

In all 20 teams participated in the tournament which was organized by All Jiribam Sport Association (AJSA), Jiribam.

The trophy and other prize money of the tournament have been donated by Preti Mallick of Kalinagar in memory of her late grand-father, KC Mallick.

In the final match, Lungreijang Youth Club (LYC), Kalinagar won the toss and selected a side and Yaipha Lamjing Club (YLC), Dibong Khunou kicked off the ball.

The match today saw great competition between the two clubs.

But Lungreijang Youth Club (LYC), lads played dominant in the early minutes of the match.

A free kick from Yaipha Lamjing Club (YLC), Dibong Khunou player N.Surjit Singh (J No.6) in 50th minutes opened the first goal account of the match.

However, opponent team player Romeo (J No.15) equalised the score in the 77th minute.

Since both the teams have only one goal against each other in the given time, the fate of the match was decided through penalty shot out.

With 5 - 4 goal lead in the penalty shoot out, Yaipha Lamjing Club (YLC) Dibong Khunou was declared winner of the final match and thus lifted the trophy of the tournament.

N.Surjit Singh of Yaipha Lamjing Club (YLC) Dibong Khunou also has received the prize of Best player of the Tournament.

During the course of the final match which was conducted by E.Premkumar Singh as centre referee and A Nabachandra Singh, O.Bishesor Singh and Ng Gyaneshore Singh as Assistant Referee 1, 2 and 4th referee, two yellow cards were booked on the side Lungreijang Youth Club, Kalinagar for the sporting conduct of its players Simon (J No.14) and Kalaona (J No.10) in the 5th and 56th minute of the match respectively.

The final match of the tournament cum prize distribution ceremony was attended by Th.Ibomcha Singh, Upa-Adhaksha of Imphal East Zilla Parishad; M.Brajakanta Singh, President of All Jiribam Sport Association (AJSA) and M.Tilok Singh, Superintendent of Youth Affairs & Sport, Jiribam as Chief Guest, President and Guest of Honour respectively.
