A one month long football coaching camp, organised by the Samurou Football Association (SAFA) kick started today at its ground with the vice-chairman of Khadi and Village Industries Board and Vice President of MPCC (I) Sagolshem Achouba in attendance as the chief guest.
Addressing the gathering, Achouba urged the people to concentrate their energy and encourage young talents, as sportspersons have been bringing laurels and recognition to the State.
Reminding that a number of football players from Manipur are playing in the big clubs across the country, Achouba stressed on the need to nurture and encourage the young talents, so that more and more may make their way to the big clubs.
Admitting that lack of adequate infrastructure has hampered the development of the game to a certain extent including lack of expert coaches, Achouba said that it should be the endeavour of everyone to overcome all handicaps.
To mark the inauguration of the coaching session, a match was staged between SAFA, Samurou and HIDA, Lilong Haoreibi.
Sports equipments were distributed to the two teams as mark of encouragement.
