Imphal, March 24 2021:
Justice for Sanaton Athokpam has lambasted the State Government for not 'revealing the fact' that led to the death of the 5th semester MBBS student from Khurai on March 15 till date.
In a statement, the JAC stated that a protest was staged today in association with different meira paibi lups and clubs of Khurai, Citizens Club Soibam Leikai and people of Wangkhei Khunou demanding expeditious delivery of justice to the deceased and his family members.
According the the JAC, the protesters also formed a human chain at Soibam Leikai Road and shouted slogans demanding booking of the culprits involved, revelation of the post mortem report, suspension of RIMS Director, arrest of the RIMS boys hostel Warden, handing over of CCTV footage of RIMS hostel no 3 to the police etc.
They also asked why an FIR is not registered till date and the doctors and student organisation of RIMS not making any comment regarding the death.
Asserting that failing to make progress on the case though 10 days have passed since the sad incident indicates the insincerity of the Government, the committee urged the State Government to do the needful at the earliest.
The Government must take responsibility for all the eventualities if the demand is not entertained.
Justice for Sanaton also claimed that the State police is not investigating the complaint submitted by the committee regarding the comments which went viral on social media even before the post mortem report came out such as "Post Mortem Report Rules it as Suicide, All the More Heartbreaking" .
