Two day National seminar held at Tadubi

Two-Day National Seminar on "Oral Tradition of Tribes in India's North East: Mao Naga Perspective on Tangible Heritage, The Makhel'' was held at Hill College, Tadubi, Manipur from February 18 to 19.The national seminar was organized by the Centre for Cultural, Media & Governance, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi in collaboration with the Centre for North East Studies and Policy Research, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi and the Mao Naga Scholars' Association under the sponsorship of the Indian Council of Social Sciences Research (ICSSR), New Delhi.
In his welcome address, Th Basanta Singh, Principal, Hill College, Tadubi said that such national seminar was the first of its kind since the establishment of Hill College in 1978 which is one of the oldest institutions in Manipur.
Delivering keynote address, Dr Kewepfuzu Lohe, vice-principal, Baptist College: Sechu Campus, Kohima, Nagaland emphasized on the common heritage of various Naga tribes rooted at Makhel-Mahruhru.
Prominent themes that were deliberated in the seminar includes "Origin and Migration: Locating the Roots of the Makhriihru", "Myths, Legends and the Tangible Heritage", "Oral Knowledge and Story Telling", "Cosmology, Social System & Jurisprudence", and "Feast and Social Taboos" among others.
Illustrious personalities who have chaired the sessions include Prof Rosemary Dzuvichu, HoD, Dept of English, NU; Prof Linus Neli; Dr Monica Nina; and Dr Samson Chiru while Prof Linus Neli; Dr Ng Mataisang; Dr Athikho Kaisu; Dr Anthony Kaba; Dr William Nepuni; Dr K Nepuni Mao; Kainj Lokho; Dr Achingliu Kamei; Dr Samuel Kapani; Dr Sinalei Khayi; Dr Paode A; Dr Besii Kholi; Dr Daili Neli; Dr Saheni Loli; and Dr Francis Ariina presented their papers in the seminar.
On the last day of the seminar, a novel written by A Khoshow Ememei, namely "In search of a home: Reckoning our world by an undefined mystic being" was released while the valedictory session, chaired by K Krelo Peter Kajeo, Assistant Professor, Hill College, Tadubi, was addressed by Dr KO Sebastian, SDB, principal, Don Bosco College, Maram.
