Many condemn driver's killing

Various transporters' unions and civil society organisations of the State have registered vehement condemnation over the killing of a truck driver, Sorokhaibam Babu and burning down of two trucks by unknown miscreants.
Strongly condemning the burning down of two trucks and killing of a driver, the Pongringlong (Charoipandongba) Village Authority has denied any connection whatsoever with the village.
Urging the Govt to conduct thorough investigation over the incidents, the VA also urged all concerned not to repeat such crimes within its dominion.
Condemning the killing, a statement issued by the Kuki Inpi, Moltam Lhang said that murder of a driver in Kuki inhabited area is just another dubious attempt to create unnecessary tension among the different communities of the State.
The Kuki Inpi also shared the grief of the family members.
It also held the State Government responsible for the killing for failing to provide security to the two stranded trucks while also expressing surprise that the murder took place in area covered by security personnel.
In the same vein, the IBSR Drivers and Motor Workers' Cooperative Society Ltd, Tiddim Road Drivers' Union, All Manipur Government Higher Secondary Lecturers' Welfare Association, All Manipur Nupi Marup, Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Lup Manipur, All Manipur Petroleum Tanker Drivers' Union, Rongmei Naga Council, Manipur; Shiv Sena, Manipur; the United People's Front Manipur have also vehemently condemned the killing of a driver and burning down of two trucks.
The bodies also demanded immediate arrest of the culprits involved in the incident and stringent punishment to them.
