Chairman refutes, clarifies

The Chairman of Nungbi/Longpi Kajui village has refuted the allegation levelled by the village headman over the misappropriation of material component amount of Rs 24 lakh under MGNREGS sanctioned for the period July 25, 2012 to March 18, 2013 .
Contending that Vaoyang R Shimray is the titular headman of the village who does not reside in the village, a statement issued today by Chairman of the village, Tuimayon Luiram clarified that the power and function of headmanship has been stripped from him through Govt orders on ground that he is a serviceman and he being unable to stay in the village voluntarily.
The chairman clarified that the VA under the Chairman has authorised a committee consisting of six members for MGNREGS management who are elected by the job card holders on voice vote under the supervision and presence of concerned SDO/BDO staff.
The VMC audited every fund withdrawal which is presented to the public in every meeting of the job card holders after selected auditors of the village finalised the same.
Based on this procedure, there has not been any complaint in regard to mismanagement of the said fund by the job card holders, the Chairman clarified.
Further clarifying that the Nungbi/Longpi Kajui has been progressing as intended or targeted in regard to developmental works under MGNREGS, the Chairman further added that the village has been recognised and acknowledged as one of the best performing villages in Chingai Block by neighbouring villages.
