Child welfare council celebrates

Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam has given a clarion call to parents and NGOs for proper guidance to children in order to make them responsible citizens.
Speaking as the chief guest at the Golden Jubilee celebration of Manipur State Council for Child Welfare, Moirangkhom at JNM Dance Academy today, Gaikhangam, who is also the Home Minister, emphasised that every individual need to contribute their mite in ensuring that a child grows up in a healthy environment.
As healthy children is an indication of a progressive society utmost care should be taken in the upbringing of children, said the Minister while highlighting that proper care and guidance of children is an important component of nation building process.
Expressing that children of Manipur getting National Bravery awards for their act of valour is a moment for every Manipuri to rejoice, he said children with such unique characteristics need to be provided all possible assistance.
Social Welfare Minister AK Mirabai Devi, Indian Council for Child Welfare (New delhi) president Gita Siddhartha, Council's Joint Secretary Sushil Ranjan Choudhuri and the jubilee celebrating Council's president H Babudhon sharma were also present at the occasion.
As a part of the celebration, a cultural programme depicting Basanta Ras, Maibi Jagoi, Kabui Dance, Dhol Dholok Cholom and Pung Cholom was also showcased by young artistes.
