Newmai stresses on need to protect environment

Kamjong, November 11 2020:
Awangbow Newmai Minister of Forest, Environment and Climate Change attended the 11th Khui Phanit in Shingkap Village in Phungyar block, Kamjong district today.
Speaking on the occasion he assured that his department will extend all the possible help to Shingkap and surrounding villages.
He further said that the State will face adverse effects of Jhum cultivation if it is not stopped now.
The Minister stressed on the importance of protecting forests for a better future and appealed to the villagers and the people of the State to protect wildlife as they play a vital role in the existence of humans and maintaining the ecosystem.
He also emphasized on the medicinal value and health benefits of honey.
A foundation stone for the cultural hall was laid by the Minister.
Leishiyo Keishing the Chairman of Hill Area Committee and MLA of Phungyar A/C also laid a foundation stone for a Primary Health Sub Centre.
The event was attended by Somimayar Awungshi member of ADC Ukhnil, Hungyo Worshing DC of Kamjong, Solomon Awungshi Hereditary Headman, Kumar Awungshi Acting Headman among others.
