Imphal, November 11 2020:
The Irang bridge which is being reconstructed has snapped again today, said sources.
The bridge collapsed today at around 11.50 am making the efforts of the Indian army to reconnect the Imphal-Jiribam Highway futile.
NHIDCL and the Indian Army have been working on the bridge for a few days after it collapsed on November 1 taking down a tipper and killing its driver identified as Khamba.
It may be noted that the Indian Army had dismantled a bailey bridge at Tengnoupal district and transported the components to Jiribam to reconstruct the Irang bridge.
Reconstruction of the bridge may take two more days, said the sources adding that parts of the bridge which had fallen into the river have been pulled up.
