Imphal, December 05 2020:
The All Manipur Student Union(AMSU) appealed to the private colleges of BEd and nursing institues to charge less fees this academic session in view of this difficult time due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
AMSU stated that private BEd colleges charge the course fees around Rs 80,000 to Rs 1,20,000 as per their wish which is against the Governemnt order.
However the government colleges charges only Rs 30,000.The NCTE guidelines 2002 and 2010 clearly state that a State Level Committee for fixation of fees should be constituted.
The guidelines also laid down the regulations to be followed by the BEd colleges therefore urged the State Government to form the committee at the earliest to streamline the process.
AMSU expressed concern that the private nursing institutes in Manipur recognised by the Indian Nursing Council and Manipur Nursing Council do not disclose clearly in their respective website or to the public about the proper norms, amount of fees to be taken.
It also appealed to the President and Registrar, Manipur Nursing Council (MNC) to notify to the public whether the Manipur Nursing Council Act 2005 and Manipur Nursing Council Act 2008 has been implemented in the State or not.
Stating that the Manipur consists majorly of poor families and people resort to private institutes or colleges to pursue various courses as the intake capacity of Government colleges is very low and not because that they have huge sum of money.
Also the standard of the Government colleges is quite low as compared to the private colleges and when the students want to compete on a national or international level the basic requirements are not met b the Govt colleges.
Lastly AMSU appealed to the Government and concerned authorities to charge less fees for.
BEd courses and nursing courses in view of the COVID-19 pandemic and in the interest of the parents and students.
