JN Manipur Dance Academy felicitates MPs, two others

Inner Manipur Lok Sabha MP RK Ranjan Singh, Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba, Officer on Special Duty Government of Manipur to New Delhi, Sh Premananda Sharma and renowned artiste Sh Nabachandra Sharma also popularly known as Naba Volcano were accorded a warm felicitation by Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy (JNMDA) in Imphal today.
Members of Parliament - Ranjan and Sanajaoba were felicitated on being elected to the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha respectively while Premananda and Nabachandra were felicitated on being appointed as OSD and nominee of Government of India in the General Council of Sangeet Natak Akademi respectively.
Addressing the gathering of the function, MP RK Ranjan Singh promised all possible assistance towards promoting Manipur's indigenous arts and culture and its listing in UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list.
Ranjan also assured JNMDA authorities of necessary support for modernization and also for exposure of Manipur's rich performing arts including Thang-ta to international audiences.
Also speaking on the occasion, MP Leishemba Sanajaoba announced that at his behest, the Government of India has agreed to recognize Manipuri as one of the classical languages of India on a condition that it fulfilled four eligibility criteria.
Manipur government has already constituted a committee under the Chairmanship of the Chief Secretary to fulfill the criteria stipulated for attaining the language status, he stated.
Expressing despondency over the excessive trust deficit prevailing among the people, Sanajaoba appealed to the people of the State to imbibe constructive mindset and have faith in others.
Sh Premananda and Sh Nabachandra Sharma also spoke on the function.
The felicitation was attended by faculty and staff of JNMDA.
