Imphal, December 05 2020:
The Apunba Ireipakki Maheiroi Sinpanglup (AIMS) has appealed to all concerned to find a solution for the imbroglio at Naorem Birahari College (NBC) to restore amicable academic atmosphere there.
In its statement, AIMS stated that Naorem Birahari College is one among the 5 Government Aided Colleges of the State as per the order of the Manipur Government dated December 19, 2016 .
Though teaching and non-teaching staff of the college were delighted when the college was recognised as an aided college, it is truly unfortunate that discord among the college employees is disturbing the academic atmosphere, the student body said.
It also expressed belief that the disunity in the college is a result of the contest for the sanctioned teaching and non-teaching posts among the employees.
Notice for the posts was announced after the college was upgraded to aided status.
AIMS further stated that there are indications of political influence in the contest among the employees.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the term of the Governing Body (GB) of the other colleges were extended, however, for Naorem Birahari College order for constituting a new caretaker GB was issued on April 24, 2020, claimed AIMS.
"There were none to look after the college when it was run privately but the contest to be a member of the GB began after the college was upgraded to aided status, claimed the student body adding that this competition among the college employees is affecting the lives of students community.
Appealing all concerned to stop accusing one another and find a solution to restore normalcy to the only college of the Khundrakpam side at the earliest, AIMS added that it will not remain a silent spectator if attempts are made to abolish an educational institution at any point of time.
