Jacintha kicks off St Anthony's School sports week

The opening ceremony of St Anthony's School Annual Games and Sports Meet-2015 was held at Senapati playground today with Jacintha Lazarus, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Senapati as the chief guest, Kabib K, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Senapati as the guest of honor and Nilde Apao, Principal, St Anthony's School as the president of the opening ceremony.
With over 2000 students enrolled, the students ranging from lower section till high school will compete in different sports discipline.
Addrsssing the gathering, Jacintha Lazarus said that responsibility has nothing to do with age and added that it is the duty of everyone to be a good citizen and endeavour to give something back to society.
She said participation is more important than winning in sports.
"Don't doubt your ability and think how to do well the next time.
Think that you are the best person in the world.
If we have doubt we can never win," the DC added.
Kabib K, whose son is also enrolled at St Anthony's School congratulated the school management in its endeavour to make the students not only good in academics but also in encouraging them in all-round personality development through extra-curricular activities.
Teachers, students, parents/ guardians and well wishers were also present at the opening ceremony.
Parading contingents by different houses saluted the chief guest and guest of honor.
Later the school flag was unfurled by the chief guest.
Considered one of the best educational institutions in the district, the students welcomed the guests and the dignitaries through a welcome song and dance.
The inaugural function later concluded with the chief guest declaring the annual sports meet opened.
Thereafter the students and the staff of the school engrossed themselves in sports, games and literary items under the merciless heat of the closing autumn sun.
