Imphal, October 28 2015:
The underground KRA (U) has refuted the claim of PRO (Defence) that three active cadres of the outfit were arrested on Oct 25 at Khengjang village.
The KRA (U) termed the claim as baseless and false.
Speaking to media persons somewhere in Sadar Hills, information and publicity secretary of KRA (U), Albert said that the arrests were not a part of CI ops conducted by troops of Jwalamukhi Battalion of Senapati Brigade under Red Shield division but the act of UPF/KNF.
He said that in the night of Oct 25, around 15 cadres of UPF/KNF in full combat dress and armed with sophisticated weapons entered Khengjang village under the command of a sergeant major.
Albert said that the KNF cadres forcibly captured four active cadres of KNO/KRA (U) and one innocent civilian along with two AK-47 rifles, one AK-56 rifle, one HK and one Insas rifle.
The four cadres of KRA (U) taken captive are Lamminsei Singsit, Chonginlun Misao, Kamyalen Chongloi and Thanggouhao Chongloi.
Amit Nepali, a civilian was later released safe and sound, he added.
Thanggouhao and the arms seized from the cadres are still in the custody of the KNF, Albert said.
It is a matter of shame that the PRO (Defence) owned the activities of the UPF/KNF, Albert said.
It is also a matter of great concern that some groups choose to indulge in inhumane activities at this juncture when the UPF and KNO are striving to foster unity.
The KRA(U) urged the KNF to release Thanggouhao and the seized arms at the earliest and warned them to refrain from such acts in future.
