Woman succumbs to injury

Forty-one year old Khumukcham Gandhamani, d/o Khumukcham Kanhai, who was undergoing treatment at Shija Hospital after being jabbed by a sharp edged tool (Hangmei Khudong) on the head succumbed to her injuries today, our correspondent reports.
In a suspected case of larceny, Gandamni was discovered unconscious with a severe head injury on October 25 at her residence.
Locals recounted that they found Gandhamani stripped of her gold earrings, necklace, finger rings and mobile phone when they found her.
A sharped edged tool, believed to be used as the murder weapon by the unknown attacker(s) was also recovered smeared with blood from the crime scene.
Gandhamani breathed her last at her residence at Kakching Khunou Awang Ningthou Leikai in the evening yesterday after two days of treatment.
A single mother, Gandhamani is survived by her five children.
A joint action committee against the brutal murder of Gandamni constituted at Kakching Khunou area today conducted a public meeting wherein the locals decided to leave the body unclaimed until the culprits are booked.
The public meeting also resolved to submit a memorandum to the Chief Minister through their local MLA and district SP necessitating the arrest of those involved in the murder within October 31.The JAC has further imposed a ban on sale of liquor and gambling at Kakching Khunou area post 7 pm from today, this correspondent reports.
