MSSA-CS meeting ends in stalemate

Manipur Secretariat Services' Association (MSSA) members and Chief Secretary PC Lawmkunga held a meeting on Saturday afternoon to discuss the demands put forth by the association.
However, the meeting ended in a stalemate.
Sources said that the meeting discussed various issues pertaining to the demands of the MSSA but could not reach an agreement.
It may be mentioned that MSSA had earlier decided to go on a mass casual for three days from April 27 if its demands were not fulfilled.
The deadline given by the association expired on Friday.
MSSA had been demanding clearance of DA arrears, SCA payment and other components of the 6th Pay Commission.
Other demands include filling up all promotional posts and other vacancies immediately to ease manpower shortage in Manipur Secretariat; regularisation of services of all employees on contract at the Secretariat (GAD); an increase in the number of sanctioned posts in respect of MSS to get proportionate promotional avenues; filling up of all the vacant posts meant for MSS cadre and an amendment to Manipur Secretariat Services rules; no reemployment/re-engagement of retired employees; vacation of non-secretariat offices from Manipur secretariat; to ensure implementation of the VII Central Pay Revision with effect from January 1, 2011; extension of benefits to all secretariat employees etc.
All Manipur Trade Unions' Council (AMTUC) and All Manipur Government Employees' Organisation (AMGEO) had extended support to the MSSA on its decision to go on a mass casual leave from April 27 .
