Imphal, April 25 2015 :
Reacting to the joint press statement of Rongmei Naga Council and Liangmai Council regarding their decision not to cooperate with all the activities of United Naga Council (UNC), Zeliangrong Youth Front (ZYF) on Saturday termed the decision of RNC and LNC as unreasonable and baseless.
ZYF accused both the councils of "issuing baseless statements from time to time without realising the ground realities which is quite absurd, disturbing and disgusting" .
It further stated that the Zeliangrong community like other Naga tribes in Manipur is represented by one single body as one of the constituent tribe units in the UNC since its inception and has been actively involving, participating and enforcing all activities of council pursuing common Naga issues till date.
Therefore, few individuals donning the mask of Rongmei Naga Council or Liangmai Naga Council are trying to make ' a mountain out of a mole hill' is nothing, but apparent result of personal frustration and their vested interests, which is not completely related to Naga people and UNC, the press statement of ZYF added.
Regarding the recognition and inclusion of Rongmei and Liangmai in the latest Scheduled Tribes list, ZYF clarified that the Zeliangrong people are recognised and known as 'Kabui' and 'Kacha Naga' in the official documents prior to the latest recognition.
Any rectification, modification or alteration effected by the Government of India or State Government in the Scheduled Tribes list should not be the justifiable ground for the Zeliangrong people to change the history, custom, culture, tradition, folktales, practices, etc., the statement said.
The press release of ZYF further added that Zeliangrong people being one of the Naga constituent tribes of UNC will actively involve, participate and enforce in Zeliangrong areas the decision of the council pursuing common issue for the common future of Naga people.
