TI-GHQ, TSA Jiribam and Tamenglong condemn physical assault on secretary general, TSA-GHQ

The Thadou Inpi-General Headquarters and Thadou Students' Association Jiribam & Tamenglong branch vehemently condemned the alleged physical assault meted out to the Secretary General of the Thadou Students Association-GHQ by Assam Rifles personnel at Sita Lamkhai Check Post, Tengnoupal, on his way back to Imphal from Moreh on November 12.The press communique of the Thadou Inpi-GHQ issued by its Secretary, Dept of Information and Publicity said that the Thadou Inpi-GHQ is enraged over the fact that student leaders in the state have been harassed and assaulted time and again, as in a recent incident the KSO leader had been manhandled at Khudengthabi by the Security forces.
The Thadou Inpi-GHQ demanded explanation from the AR personnel about the inhuman act and asked the Assam Rifles authority to apologize according to the Thadou customary law and in case the student leader had committed an act that called for the ill-treatment meted out to him, the Thadou Inpi would like a clarification for the same for which it is ready to make amends, he added.
He also said that if the AR personnel in particular and the Government authority ignore this grievances, Thadou Inpi would be obliged to stand with its student wing and support whatever action it deems fit to restore the respect and dignity of the student leader in particular and all leaders of social organization in general.
The Thadou Inpi also warned that failure to meet their demands would be considered as an act of disrespect and discrimination against the Thadou community and would result in unrest and tension between the community and the government.
Thadou Students' Association Jiribam & Tamenglong branch also cautioned the State Govt that if appropriate action to the Assam Rifles personnel involved in assaulting the Secretary General of TSA-GHQ is not initiated at the earliest, then TSA J & T will launch various form of agitation including imposition of blockade along NH-37 .
