New Delhi, June 12 2015 :
NSCN(K), responsible for the killing of 18 Army men in Manipur, will soon be declared a banned organisation again.
The Home Ministry has prepared a note for the Union Cabinet for declaring the SS Khaplang-led Naga rebel group as outlawed in the wake of the June 4 strike and recent series of attacks on security forces by it.
After the Union Cabinet's approval, the NSCN-K will be declared a banned group and its name will be put in the list of organisations which are declared as banned under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act.
NSCN-K was a banned organisation till 2001 but it was withdrawn after the group entered into a ceasefire agreement with the Government.
Khaplang, a Naga from Myanmar, is based in the neighbouring country and most camps of the group are believed to be located there.
