Imphal, January 07 2012:
A three days orientation programme organised jointly by Thokchom Publication and Central Institute of India Language commenced at Koirou Laishumang Community Hall at Thongju Part II today.
The inaugural function was graced by titular King of Manipur Leishemba Sanajaoba and Dr K Sushila as the Chief Guest and President respectively.
Prof R Subbakrishna, Ch Yashwanta, Prof, Linguistic Dept, MU and Ng Nongyai, former member Manipur Human Rights Commission were also present as Guests of Honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Leishemba Sanajaoba said that those persons who have worked for the cause of their motherland but desisted away from the path for some personal gains will never succeed in their life and will never develop.
He further said that this is not the time to stay idle thinking that Manipuri is the state Language of Manipur.
By the time people begin to neglect their own language and culture; they tend to think that there is no relation between the language of one community and another.
We should all try to save the threatened tradition and language of a particular community because the extinction of a particular language in a society will have a great impact in building up of a state.
Ng Nongyai said that developing a particular language is entirely in the hands of the people who speak that particular language.
A book entitled "Preliminary Grammar of Thangal" was also released on the occasion.
Nomita Khongbantabam was conferred the National Integration Award.
