CorCom claims bomb attacks, 1 hurt

Imphal, January 07 2012:
Bomb attacks targeting Congress offices and candidates continue unabated.
The CorCom has claimed responsiblity for all the bomb attacks.
An individual sustained injuries when unidentified persons hurled a hand grenade at a polling camp opened at Charangpat Mamang Leikai in Thoubal district at about 7.10 pm today.
The unidentified persons also opened one round of shot.
The injured victim has been identified as Thingujam Lukhoi (38) of Charangpat Mamang Leikai.
He was rushed to Thoubal district hospital and later shifted to JNIMS.
Shortly after, Congress office of Jiribam, Babupara was set ablaze by some unidentified persons.
Some plastic chairs kept inside the office were destroyed in the arson though the fire was brought under control before it could cause further damages, reports our Jiribam correspondent.
Notably, Forest Minister Th Debendra went to Jiribam to submit his nomination papers today.
The CorCom has also claimed responsibility for the Jiribam arson.
Unidentified persons lobbed and exploded a hand grenade at the residence of Congress candidate W Brajabidhu at Lamdeng Khunou at around 11 pm yesterday.
However, no one was injured in the grenade attack.
Another grenade which failed to go off was discovered this morning at the residence of the MLA.
The grenade was later retrieved by police.
The Nambol BCC office was also attacked with a hand grenade at about 8 pm yesterday though the grenade did not go off.
The grenade was also picked up by police.
On the other hand, one hand grenade was found at the residence of a supporter of PDA Chairman Kh Loken.
Police retrieved the grenade from the house of K Bhubaneshwar at Sagolband Mabudhou Mantri Leikai yesterday morning.
Notably, an election office for MLA Loken was opened at the residence of Bhubaneshwar.
In the adjoining nights of January 5 and 6 a bomb was set off by COrcom at Singjamei Okaram Leikai while another bomb was set off on January 5 at about 5.30 pm ay Yumnam Leikai Ngakraba Leikai.
