Jiribam, September 21 2020:
All Jiribam United Clubs' Association (AJUCA) bemoaned Government's lack of interest over their rightful and democratic demand to fill up the required number of medical staff for the 50-bedded Jiribam District Hospital established at Uchathol.
Speaking to media persons, AJUCA vice president M Premchandra expressed strong discontent over authorities concerned for not heeding to their demand to make the hospital fully functional with adequate staff, despite repeated approach.
Even as the posting of x-ray technician and ultrasound technicians have been notified, they have not reported to the hospital, yet, he said.
There is a frequent transfer of doctors and other staff and delay in their replacement has been a norm in Jiribam, he said while adding that doctors who have been transferred to Jiribam have been at times even before they showed up at the hospital.
As such the hospital has not been able to serve its purpose fully since its inauguration, he continued.
He further said that people of Jiribam had to go to Silchar for x-ray examination and ultrasound scanning in spite of COVID-19 threats since the necessary staff have not yet reported at the hospital.
Saying that the district is often ignored in such matters despite repeated approach from AJUCA, he condemned the differential treatment meted out to the people of Jiribam and sought immediate intervention of the Department concerned.
