Imphal, September 21 2020:
Volunteers of Apunba Ireipakki Maheiroi Sinpanglup (AIMS) thronged the office of the Education Engineering Wing and staged a protest there.
After driving out the staff there, the protesters imposed 'public curfew' at the office.
Speaking to media persons, AIMS vice president, Saikhom Premchand said that not a staff should attend the office till the case concerning alleged irregularity in building construction projects at DM University and Engineering College, Heirok is brought to a logical conclusion.
He also urged the State Government and authority concerned to release Apunba Ireipakki Maheiroi Sinpanglup (AIMS) volunteers who were arrested for locking the said office "unconditionally," and remove the Chief Engineer.

He also said that projects at the two educational institutions which are allegedly carried out without work and approval from the Ministry should be stopped, forthwith.
Saying that AIMS will not take responsibility for any eventuality if the restrictions are ignored, he added that the student's body will stage more demonstrations until the demands are met.
On the other hand, the Leihou Khunai Kanba Luptin (LKKL) has resolved to extend support to the movement launched by AIMS.
A press release issued by LKKL said that the issue involving the Engineering Wing of the Education Department should not be taken lightly.
It also said that arresting AIMS volunteers who locked the office of the Engineering Wing in a democratic manner is very unfortunate.
Saying that the Government used to take against corrupt officials by establishing an Anti Corruption Cell when it is new, LKKL said that the cell seems to have stopped functioning now.
Principal Architecture of BBS Architecture, Benson Chabungbam, had also clarified that the diagram of the project wasn't his and he only signed the paper, it claimed, adding that selling the work of his own department by approaching a private construction firm just to increase the estimate of the project is rather unfortunate.
The body then demanded the State Government to release the arrested AIMS volunteers and remove the accused Chief Engineer at the earliest.
